Kitchener was originally the Town of Berlin from 1854-1912, and then changed its name to the City of Berlin from 1912-1916. The metropolitan area of Kitchener includes the neighbouring cities of Waterloo and Cambridge - making it the tenth largest Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) in Canada and the fourth largest CMA in Ontario.
